What is something your child caught you doing that you wish they had never seen?

Here’s my story from 17 years ago...
It was a Friday when I made a life-changing decision. I told my boyfriend, who was also the father of my child, that I was leaving him. I planned to be gone by Monday and needed the weekend to pack all my things and my children's belongings.
I was leaving because he had been physically and emotionally abusive. The decision was hard but necessary for our safety and well-being.
By Sunday evening, my boyfriend still hadn't accepted my decision. Desperate, he initiated a violent confrontation. My children were upstairs, peacefully asleep, or so I thought. My son was still in his crib, innocent and unaware of the turmoil below.
In the midst of the struggle, as my boyfriend dragged me down the hallway by my hair, I glanced up the stairs. There, at the top, stood my three-year-old son. His tear-filled eyes met mine as he cried out, "Mommy!"
In that heartbreaking moment, I knew without a doubt that I had made the right choice to leave. Seeing the fear and confusion on my child's face strengthened my resolve.
Moral: I learned a painful lesson that night: never give a violent person advance notice before you leave. The safety and well-being of my children and myself had to come first, without warning or delay.
